UK Explosion Liaison Group – Explosion Hazards of Net Zero

United Kingdom Explosion Liaison Group, UKELG

An informative day at the 63rd Meeting of the ‘UK Explosion Liaison Group’ at the HSE in Buxton. Their first ‘in person’ meeting since Covid, but with a hybrid online presence, which was a new one for me. I had to stay on the X on the floor for the online camera, which I nearly managed to do. The subject of the meeting was the Explosion Hazards of Net Zero Technologies. There was a lot of interesting work on hydrogen and its use in houses as well as on ammonia which is also being considered and investigated. There was much computer modelling and validation work. I presented on our development of a safe unit in which to charge E-Bike batteries. We took a practical approach, so I did feel a bit like an empirical caveman in such company – but that’s OK with me. Photo taken with me not waving my arms about which is most unusual.
