Rosie Swale-Pope was well on her way to Kathmandu with Ice-Chick, the original Jogpod. She was working East through Turkey when the Covid-19 virus hit. Given her age (deliberately not given here) she was required to isolate and after a couple of months was then asked to leave the country via a stint in a deportation centre.
Her big issue was making sure Ice-chick was looked after until she returned or came up with an alternative plan. Political unrest beyond Turkey made repatriation the logical choice but then started a prolonged challenge. With great help from the team at Fibrobeton in Istanbul the customs challenges were overcome and Ice-chick made it back in the safe hands of DHL to Technique Composites in Ripley. At the reunion she was surprised with a replacement door and having loaded up set off towing Ice-Chick on her way back to Brighton – a quick training run.
Rosie has plans for an alternative route to Kathmandu – this will still be a huge challenge and not without its hazards but does make more sense. Since Ice-Chick we have developed many additional features and even the bicycle towed version- the Cogpod. See our dedicated page for Jogpods and Cogpods here
