With a successful run across America behind her, Rosie Swale Pope plans to split her time between the UK and Texas while she pushes hard to complete the associated book. Ice Chick is being cared for in Albany, Texas. Rosie is so used to the independence and flexibility that living in Ice Chick provides that she commissioned a new buggy for her time in the UK. This one would have a less extreme life and so we were able to produce it in glass fibre rather than the lighter but more expensive carbon fibre from which Ice Chick is made.
We were able to introduce new features into this UK buggy, the most obvious being a solar panel on the roof connecting to a battery in the nose with 12V and USB power supplies that will keep her phone and laptop alive during extensive use in producing the book. The new buggy also has a folding split door which can be used as a seat and it even has internal LED lights.
When it was handed over, the new buggy had no name. This only emerged after having lived with it for a few days – It has become known as ‘Slick Chick’. We hope that Slick Chick serves her well and continues to attract attention like it has so far.
