Research undertaken by SJH Projects in support of the Sir Ranulph Fiennes led ‘Coldest Journey’ is discussed in a article in the US publication Popular Science.
The article, by Susan Moran, was inspired by the oncoming rush of people to the Arctic. This includes cruise ships exploiting greater access as the ice retreats and the energy industry who are after the natural resources.
The remoteness of this region from suitable medical facilities is highlighting the need for better protective clothing and technologies. The integrated system developed by SJH Projects and tested in conjunction with a team from Portsmouth University was deployed in the Antarctic winter after testing for extended periods in a cold chamber at -58C.
